Dutch studio aims for a deeper gameplay experience for their god game as they head to the crowdfunding platform
Utrecht, the Netherlands - January 30, 2019 - Abbey Games, the Dutch studio behind Reusand Renowned Explorers, is launching their Kickstarter campaign today for the upcoming god game, Godhood. While the base game is already funded and planned for Early Access in May 2019, the team strives to give the game extra depth with the help of their community. If the studio reaches its goal of €50,000 before March 1st, one of the additions that players will gain is the option to create their own secret cult and pose as an ancient eldritch horror.
A new Kickstarter video introducing both the game and the team can be found here.
The Kickstarter campaign includes an early bird pre-order pack and rewards such as backer-exclusive Holy Sites skins (both regular and “evil”), in-game dedications, and designing an adversary deity, as well as the soundtrack and digital artbook.
"There are as many ideas for interesting religious expression as there are people”, says Rick Sorgdrager of Abbey Games. “With Godhood, we want to create a game offering players as much liberty as possible when creating their own cult, and for that, we decided to ask for the help of our community.”
From cat worshiping to human sacrifices, Godhood lets players become a newborn deity, and experiment with creating their own religion through clear rules, defining virtue and vice, and what rituals to practice. Prospective gods will soon learn, however, that followers come with inconvenient free will, and that control over their worshipers isn’t total. In a world where the number of followers equals power and rival gods will attempt to convert your flock, holding on to your worshippers is vital. To do this, players will send their most trusted worshippers, strengthened by rituals, to battle their opponents in combat known as Sacraments.
Godhood is set for Early Access launch in May 2019. More details about the game can be found on the official website and the community HUB or by checking out the Discord and Twitter.
Assets can be found in our dedicated press room here.
