Offworld Industries Deploy Squad Update v4.3 Today
Posted March 15, 2023New Westminster, BC - March 15, 2023 — Offworld Industries is excited to launch Squad Update 4.3 today for all players! The v4.3 update brings with it an upgraded version of Squad's Manic-5 map (now called “Manicouagan”), a very comprehensive overhaul of the Militia faction, the ability for server owners to tag their servers, and a new Find Match feature on the main menu.
You can see all the update details over on the Squad Steam page, and here's a brief overview from the development team of what players can expect:
MILITIA FACTION OVERHAUL
Militia is getting an overhaul to bring them more in line in terms of power with the other factions in the game. We’ve long felt that Militia was the weakest faction compared to the rest.
Militia have been updated in a way that also leans into the concept of creating more unique-feeling factions. We want each faction to have a unique feel alongside individual strengths and weaknesses. For militia, our changes have focused on making them more ambush and entrenchment/defensive focused as well as improving the quality of their infantry since their vehicle line-up still leaves a lot to be desired when compared to conventional factions.

MANICOUAGAN MAP IMPROVEMENTS
Map Bio: After making a successful amphibious landing at Goose Bay in Labrador, opposition forces have pushed south along the 389 Highway into Quebec and seized the Daniel-Johnson hydroelectric dam and the surrounding area. This has crippled the power infrastructure of the northeastern United States and prompted counter-attacks from US and Canadian forces. After a lull in the fighting, US and Canadian forces are making a final attempt to retake the dam.

Map Characteristics: Manicouagan is a 4x4km map that offers players much more freedom in terms of how they want to approach their objectives, and improved flow compared to previous iterations of the map (ie. Manic-5). However, deep rivers cut through the central areas, limiting forces that do not have amphibious capabilities (such as the US Army or Canadians) into using bridges and shallows as crossing points. Amphibious capable forces will have more tactical opportunities to flank their opponents from unexpected angles.
The map features fortified military positions, industrial facilities, residential areas, and farmland. Some areas of the map provide longer lines of sight than others but the thick Canadian forest, and less drastic changes in elevation across the map limits the line of sight in most locations.

- Find Match - Players can now use a “Find Match” button located on the main menu to be matched up with a server that fits the tags that they have established.
