Offworld Releases Update 8.2 for Squad — Friends Lists, New Weapons, & More!

New Westminster, Canada - December 2nd, 2024 —  Live at 11am PST / 2pm EST today, Offworld is launching Update 8.2 for its acclaimed 50v50 military FPS Squad, headlined by a hotly-anticipated feature addition: the official Squad friends list! Organizing play sessions with your most trusted allies has never been easier—with this new tool, you can coordinate and communicate with other Squad players, creating a simple way to jump into the action with your pals. Whether your own squad is made up of grizzled veterans or new recruits, the Squad Friends List allows you to strengthen your comradery and engage with the greater Squad community.

In addition, The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have received specialized Woodland Camouflage uniforms, with their existing camo now designated as their Winter uniforms. Also included in the update is an assortment of new weaponry: the M39 EMR can now be utilized by USMC marksmen, replacing the M38 rifle, the M110 Suppressed replaces the non-suppressed M110 for USA marksmen in Light Infantry & Air Assault Battlegroups, and the AUG rifle replaces the M4 Simon Offense + M150 for WPMC riflemen. As well, the Mosin Carbine is back in action, now appearing in the new second raider role for Insurgents.

Update 8.2 also contains a comprehensive collection of bug fixes as well as gameplay tweaks to improve the balance and viability of key battlegroups, factions and maps. Full patch notes can be found on Steam.

Squad is a 100-player combined-arms first-person shooter emphasizing combat realism through communication and team play, emphasizing strong squad cohesion mechanics and larger-scale coordination, tactics, and planning. It features 23 massive open maps, vehicle-based combined arms gameplay, and player-constructed bases to create a heart-thumping, visceral gaming experience with split-second decision-making in real-world scale firefights.
