The Lacerator

Classic Survival Horror and Trash Movies Shack Up in The Lacerator, Coming in 2025

Posted August 14, 2024
Los Angeles, USA - August 14, 2024 — Games publisher DreadXP signs a new survival horror for its continuously-growing collection of fan-favorite and acclaimed titles. Introducing The Lacerator, a survival horror where losing limbs changes the gameplay, and overcoming not only the puzzles but even a violent bodily amputation becomes the centerpiece of a twisted game with the trashy comedy and low-brow style of the great Grindhouse films of the 70’s and 80’s. Developed by Brazilian developer Games From The Abyss, The Lacerator launches in 2025.
The Lacerator is a tense survival horror mixed with the vibe of watching an 80’s grindhouse thriller, throwbacks included, that pays homage to horror genre classics with retro-inspired low poly visuals and tank controls. Explore a branching environment, fight enemies and solve puzzles in order to progress in your mission to escape this hell on earth. But beware of The Lacerator and his many traps, you can lose a limb in real time, drastically changing your options for gameplay. Exploration will be crucial for survival, as will fighting. Sometimes you can run away from your foes, but things will often be easier if you can manage to take them down.

Max, a famous porn actor and best to ever do it, is the star of the show. During the latest recording session with his crew, things get really hard when everyone is attacked and abducted by THE LACERATOR. Now inside a filthy hideout, Max must do whatever it takes to escape alive and in one piece… But that likely won’t happen, as the psycho killer loves to LACERATE his victims! What part of your body will be cut this time? Who knows? The LACERATOR does. There are multiple main escape routes, but depending on your remaining limbs you lose access to some of these paths. Each of these present a different narrative branch that will provide answers not available in the others. Do you dare go back and put the big picture together?

Key Features:
  • DON’T GET LACERATED! Losing your limbs will change how you play!
  • Explore the winding lair of THE LACERATOR
  • Find items to solve puzzles and progress
  • Defend yourself
  • Manage scavenged resources
  • Beware of the many traps
  • Multiple main paths of play and endings!
DreadXP adds The Lacerator to its confirmed lineup of games in development, which includes the fan-favorite Amanda The Adventurer 2, coming later in 2024 and continuing the story of the viral hit, and the highly-awaited Heartworm in 2025, a thrilling narrative that aims to throw players back to the style of the genre classics that set the path for all horror games that followed.

The Lacerator launches on PC in 2025. A demo is currently available on Steam, and DreadXP will be exhibiting it as part of their lineup at PAX West 2024.
