TOWERS OF AGHASBA: Open-world Biome Settlement Builder Plants Seeds for November Early Access

Posted September 24, 2024
LOS ANGELES, United States (September 24, 2024)— Today Dreamlit Games announced their upcoming open-world fantasy builder, Towers of Aghasba, will launch simultaneously to Steam Early Access and PlayStation Early Access in November 2024. The indie start-up unveiled a further look at the game in a Sony State of Play trailer, offering up gameplay clips wherein the title’s masked protagonist traverses— climbs, glides, swims, and rides— across wondrous terrain, transforming withered lands into vibrant ecosystems and becoming the architect of a thriving island civilization, in balance with nature.

“It’s like camping with family and friends— except you’re in a world akin to Studio Ghibli’s Nausicaa, with forests full of strange plants and creatures. There will be moments of danger and challenges, but that’s not the main point of the game. We’re inspired by titles like Animal Crossing, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Viva Pinata. At its heart, Towers of Aghasba is a peaceful yet compelling experience designed for players looking for creativity, fantasy, and adventure,” said Khang Le, Dreamlit Games CEO and Game Director

Initially revealed in the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Towers of Aghasba is a highly anticipated and ambitious project from the studio at Dreamlit Games. The core team, brought together by Khang Le and Dave Nguyen, are the original creators of Hawken on PC, the 2012 award-winning indie mech first-person shooter. Khang, who has a background working in Hollywood film concept design, brings a cinematic vision to Towers of Aghasba, which thrives on its arresting open-world vistas and majestic beasts. Yet, the game also captures the imagination with grounded storytelling, deep lore, and quirky characters.

Outside of its single-player exploration, Towers of Aghasba offers multiplayer sojourns: players can visit a friend’s island to check out their designs, harvest crops, or just hang out with buds (no pun intended). The wide world of Aghasba is an open-world sandbox, but players can expect clear goals, alongside satisfying crafting and collection progression. While exploring, players will be able to uncover ruins and relics, grow unique ecosystems, attract extraordinary creatures, and nurture the wildlife they have restored. Khang confirmed that Early Access content on PlayStation 5 and Steam will include:

  • 3 types of unique ecosystems to restore and grow
  • 3 types of towns to construct
  • 40+ creatures to unlock
  • 120+ plants to grow and harvest
  • 150+ decoration recipes
  • Exploration across vast open-world lands
  • Ruins and relics to discover, unlocking ancient knowledge
  • Variety Activities (eg. fishing)

The November Early Access release to PlayStation 5 will be a unique experience for PlayStation gamers to contribute to an in-development game. The Dreamlit Games team plans to work closely with community members across platforms to nurture Towers of Aghasba into its full potential for a 1.0 launch in the near future.

Towers of Aghasba is available to wishlist on Steam and the PlayStation Store now. For further details on Early Access development and upcoming news, follow the Dreamlit Games team on FacebookX (formerly Twitter), visit the website, or join the conversation on Discord.
